Went to take them back and they would not honor the warranty because my 2 year guarantee was up by a 3 weeks. Once that was all said and done I was able to exchange my batteries out for “new and improved ones” 1 year later again the batteries were doing the same thing again. After jumping through hoops of having to show proof of the original receipt(the credit card statement that showed ryobi combo wasn’t good enough) actually had to contact homedepot cooperate to obtain another receipt which took weeks. After a year the batteries wouldn’t hold a charge and one wouldn’t even charge at all. Keeping longevity and money in mind as my leading factors, what would you recommend for my usage listed above?Ībout 10 years ago I received a ryobi combo kit for Christmas. Ryobi has improved tool durability in recent years, tons of tool interchangeability, but supposedly terrible customer service, for cheaper and more practical DIY usage. Ridgid has the warranty, reputation, and (at least beginning with) American roots, albeit all for a higher cost. But even with that, you read an approval about it from website text, with complaints in the comments section. There are horror stories about Ryobi warranty, and a LOT of them. The big thing I’m stuck on is this warranty. I use these tools for stuff around the house, and get recruited to help at buddies home repairs. I work in construction but am an engineer, not a wrench turner. Both work well, I have no complaints, enjoy the battery interchangeability, was planning on getting more and becoming “branded” due to battery. My father in law got me a Ryobi kit, drill and circ saw. I know they are both owned by TTI, but I’m trying to be smarter with my money and invest in long lasting tools, and really can’t make up my mind. I’ve been searching all over the interwebs for which is the better brand. No Amazon affiliate links (they'll be removed by the Automod). No posts promoting crowdfunding projects.
